5/14/2014 0 Comments C Is For CollegeA very happy (and proud) bunch of 1st XV players after todays 25 to 13 win over PNBHS. They started well, kept the pressure on for most of the game and then defended their goal line in the last 10 minutes to come away deserved winners. It is still early season but these guys are showing the potential to achieve a lot both on and off the field this season.

5/12/2014 0 Comments On The ChargeExciting to have three old boys in the All Blacks training squad all at the same time. Well done to Beaudy and Conrad and a special congratulations to Liam Coultman on making the next step. We are sure the big fella will grab the opportunity with both hands and steam roll his way to even greater heights.
5/9/2014 0 Comments Registration ContinuesWe have had a steady stream of old boys registering in the last few weeks. If you want to be added to the list below you can register on our registration page.

The team showed the effects of their trip, starting slowly in the first half. The second half saw our guys lift their game to run out winners 28 to 21. Tyler Feakins, making a come back from injury, stood out with his attacking ability.
The 2nd XV now begin their season in the Sec.School A Division on Saturday. Their first opponent is old rivals NPBHS 2nd XV at McNaught field. The 1st XV has this Saturday off but will be playing a tough one against PNBHS in Palmerston North next Wednesday. If you are in PN come along and have a look. 5/6/2014 0 Comments A Nice Day For A RunAfter a deluge yesterday on the first day back at school, it was very pleasing that the sun shone through for this afternoon's Senior Cross Country event. It would be true to say that the cross country is not every students favourite house event but most entered into the spirit of the occasion and either ran hard or walked with purpose around the college course. Pictured above is Thomas Wright on his way to winning the Intermediate A race, while Nick "the mad runner" Tipler took out the Senior event. 5/2/2014 0 Comments Taking The Next StepScott Mellow has become the latest in an increasingly long list of FDMC old boys to make the NZ Under 20 Rugby Team. Today's Daily News has a good article on Scott and how, in true FDMC fashion, he "snuck under the radar" to prove his worth at the recent trials camp. We are sure Scott will grab the opportunity and make something even bigger from it.
5/1/2014 0 Comments The Modern PlayerA good article on Stuff today talking about old boy Scot Fuglistaller re- signing with the Melbourne Rebels. Interesting how the playing paths of modern players can take such twists and turns. Perhaps we may have our first Australian international within a year or two. Kiwi flanker Scott Fuglistaller is calling Australia home for another two years after re-signing with the Melbourne Rebels.
Fuglistaller, 27, has inked a new deal that will see him stay with the Super Rugby club until the end of the 2016 season. Hailing from Wellington, the former New Zealand under-19 representative will be available for Wallabies selection at the end of the 2015 season when he completes the 36-consecutive month residency criteria. After just two Super Rugby caps in his native New Zealand, Fuglistaller had no hesitation in repaying the faith the Rebels placed in him when they first signed him. "I'm very happy to be extending my stay at the Rebels," he said. "This club gave me a chance in Super Rugby and I feel like repaying the faith in them is the right thing to do." The openside flanker had an outstanding debut season in 2013, playing every game and winning the Spirit of Weary Dunlop Award for the player who showed the most passion on field for the club. He also topped the tackle count among Australian Super Rugby teams, finishing sixth overall. He has continued in a similar vein in 2014, missing just one game due to injury and joining the club's leadership group. "My confidence has grown and I feel like, out of all of my years in rugby, I have learnt the most this year which is a real positive," he said. Rebels head coach Tony McGahan said Fuglistaller was a priority re-signing. "His leadership across the group has been fantastic and is certainly backed up by his on-field efforts," McGahan said. Fuglistaller's signing follows new deals with promising flanker Sean McMahon and halfback Nic Stirzaker. |
