7/5/2013 0 Comments A Welcome ReturnToday we welcomed recent old boy Shane Rooyakkers back to the college. Shane popped in and a had a cuppa with the staff before talking to a couple of senior classes about his university experiences. Shane was the FDMC Dux in 2009 and is currently in his first year of a Masters Degree in Geochemistry at Victoria University.
It was good of Shane to give some of his time to talk to the current students, although we suspect he found his first ever staff room experience a little daunting.

7/3/2013 0 Comments The Week Gets Even SadderNews today that Br Oliver O'Leary passed away last night at the great old age of 100.
Brother Ollie was the first New Zealand De La Salle Brother and was renown for his humble service to all of the communities in which he lived, his fantastic gardening skills and his ability to whip up a batch of cheese scones. There can be few better examples of people living the virtues of Faith, Service and Community. Our prayers and thoughts are with the De La Salle Brothers as they farewell Br Ollie and celebrate his life among them. 7/2/2013 1 Comment Phil D'ath, RIPSad news at lunch time today of the passing of old boy and past staff member Phil D'ath. Phil passed away this morning after a long and valiant battle against illness and we know that all old boys will keep both Phil and his family in their thoughts and prayers.
Phil attended FDMC in the middle 1960's before leaving to pursue a career in carpentry. In the 1980's and 90's Phil had several tours of duty as a workshop teacher at the College, finally returning to the "real world" in 2004. Phil was a great supporter of FDMC and an individual who could always be relied on to speak his mind and then just get on with things. He will be greatly missed by his large family and circle of friends. 7/1/2013 0 Comments A Message From BethlehemBrother Peter Bray, is the 8th Vice Chancellor of Bethlehem University, the first university established in Palestinian and the only Catholic university in the Holy Land and of course a long serving past Principal of our College. We had an email from Br Peter this week and thought we would share part of it with you. Greetings from this beautiful, holy place! I hope this finds you well and coping with what I hear is a rather brisk winter. We are in the midst of summer here with some wonderful weather. |
