10/10/2014 0 Comments A Community LossVery sad to hear the news of the passing of Joe Dowd. Joe taught for a time at FDMC, had both his sons Anthony and Michael at the college and his wife Freda was active in a wide range of supporting roles at FDMC.
Joe and his family are great examples of the spirit of faith and service that exists within FDMC and the wider catholic community of New Plymouth and he will be much missed. His funeral takes place at St Joseph's NP at 11 am on Monday. Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May the souls of the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace.

10/8/2014 0 Comments The Perfect ShotGood to see Year 9 student Matthew Allen using his holidays to sharpen up his golf game. Today's Daily News (article here) has a great story on how Matthew was able to match Grandad with a hole in one of his own only weeks after Grandad had played his perfect shot.
10/3/2014 0 Comments In The Face Of InstructionWe are starting a new feature highlighting one of FDMC's great strengths, the quality (and longevity) of the teaching staff. First face on display is our very own Graham Blanks (Blanksy). Graham started his time at the College in the 1980's as the Dean of Y7/8 but like many of our staff he has gone on to do many other things. He is currently the Head of Mathematics and all ex students will recognize this look, along with a few more grumpy expressions that he can bring out as needed.
10/1/2014 0 Comments Running FreeGreat photo on the front page of today's Daily News of two current FDMC students kicking their heels up in their holidays. Cameron Barnes and Gregory Murray were practicing a little Free Running on the beach but you can get more details here. Never let it be said our students are lacking in energy!
