3/18/2014 0 Comments Athletics Sports Round UpLast Friday, 7th March we had our annual Francis Douglas Athletics sports.
There was a lot of encouragement and support coming from the grandstand, from houses and teammates encouraging and hyping members of their house. New students had the opportunity to experience team relays and houses competing against one another in very competitive fields. Both the track and Field events saw some exceptional talent and students pushing themselves to compete for their house. The seniors came with some very creative costumes, and were great entertainment for the large number of supporters and parents that came for the day. The weather was superb and the points started out rather even although Solomon had gained a lead from the preliminary events that had been held throughout the week leading up to Athletic Sports. No records were broken although many came very close, as did the points for year group champions. Solomon came away the clear winners, followed by LaSalle and then it was very pleasing to see Benildus fight deep to take third place over Loreto. Over all it was a very successful day with many students competing in numerous races. A big thank you to all the parents who came and supported the College. Final points and age group Champions were: 1st Solomon 1733 2nd LaSalle 1594 3rd Benildus 1344 4th Loreto 1272 Age Group Champions Year 7 1st= Denzell Sofeni (LS) 1st= Ollie Spicer (S) 3rd Connor Ford (B) Year 8 1st Jacob Ratumaitavuki-Kneepkins (B) 2nd Method Te Huia (S) 3rd Blaque Macleod (B) Junior 1st Liam Moore (L) 2nd Titan Cook (L) 3rd Jenson Taumoepeau Intermediate B 1st Caylem Cook (L) 2nd Polaiu’amea Kirifi (LS) 3rd Jaques McCallum-Lind (S) Intermediate A 1st Thomas Wright (S) 2nd George Monk (B) 3rd Ben Moore (L) Senior 1st Simon French (S) 2nd Karl Wright (S) 3rd Du’Plessis Kirifi (LS)
