8/6/2014 1 Comment The MinstrelWe had a visit today from an old boy of the College one Mark de Lacy. Mark was giving a performance to the Year 7 and 8 students based around the Take a Kid Fishing trust. His performance was very well received and he was able to share morning tea with the staff afterwards.
Mark still has very fond memories of his time at FDMC in the late 60's and has since gone on to carve out a career as a performer and presenter under the guise of The Minstrel. You can get a feel for his full range of talents at his web site - www.theminstrel.co.nz.

If it is the de Lacy that I remember, he won the school talent quest with a rousing prepared oration which included the phrase, "Teachers: Drop dead!" and finished up facing the school from the stage in the gymn, raising a clenched fist and shouting, "Are you with me?" to us all. Unfortunately everyone just sat there, no teachers were seized and no gallows or guillotines constructed. It was not for lack of talent on the part of the orator.
