4/24/2015 1 Comment Welcome Back DesWe had a visit this week from old boy Desmond Bezzant and his wife Kath. Des was a first day pupil in 1959 while Kath's family at one time farmed on the current school property. They now live in Auckland but it is always great to welcome our own back home.
4/23/2015 0 Comments Happy Birthday BroWe have heard a whisper that today is an auspicious occasion in that it is the birthday of one Br William Harnett. Now we don't know exactly how many years Br Will is celebrating but we estimate that it is quite a few. However many it might be Brother, all the best for today and for all those other ones to come.
4/22/2015 0 Comments The First Big ChallengeThe 1st XV issued the challenge and the PNBHS side were up for it. What ensued was a very tight contest which FDMC lead almost to the end, only to concede a try in the corner in injury time to go down 22 points to 21. Our boys did not have a lot of possession for much of the game but showed great courage in their goal line defence and the ability to take the chances to score when they came.
It was good to see a lot of old boys at the game including Black Caps manager Mike Sandle, who is getting some well earned time at home. 4/21/2015 0 Comments And So It Begins ...Tomorrow is the start of the traditional 1st XV rugby programme for the year with a game against Palmerston North BHS. The game is to be played at FDMC, with the kick off at 12 noon. Old Boys are welcome to come and have a look, and of course say hello.
4/9/2015 0 Comments Smart BossingGood article in today's Daily News (read here) on old boy Brendan Attrill and the mentoring he has provided for up and coming farmers in the region. Just another great example of FDMC guys out there contributing to their community.
4/3/2015 0 Comments Lasallian SpiritGreat to see the Lasallian spirit in evidence after yesterday's Oakhill v FDMC rugby clash. The local lads proved too strong for the visitors running out 29 to 17 winners. It sounds like our guys struggled a bit with the conditions (28 degrees), the quality of the opposition and our own execution, but that's OK, on to the next game!. Thanks to Rolly for sending us the pic and we advise avoiding any communication with Br Ray Khan for a while.
4/2/2015 0 Comments Treading The BoardsWell done to our mighty Shakespearians who won the Sheila-Winn Drama Competition last night and are now off to the National Finals. We hope to see some (if not all of them) treading the boards at the Globe in the near future.
