Time and Teaching Take Their Toll

Picture

Amazing that Cossey can still muster the same smile after 40 years of teaching! Just a reminder that we will be celebrating Peter Costello's, Graham Blank's and Leigh Hucker's contribution to FDMC next Wednesday at the West End Bowling Club (6 pm). If you are thinking of joining us it would be appreciated if you could click on this link to register.

An Old Boy Returns

We had a visit this week from old boy Patrick McEvoy who was a student at the College during the 1970's. Patrick is currently living in Houston, Texas with his wife and two daughters, where he has been working in accounting for a good few years.

While currently back visiting family, Patrick expressed an interest in making the move on a more permanent basis in the future.

Fresh Prints!

A recent stock take in the Library has unearthed some gems from our past which we will be sharing over the next few weeks. This one is a page from the student newspaper Fresh Prints published in 1996

Keeping In Touch

We always appreciate messages and notes from our Old Boys, especially the ones that don't just tag someone in a Facebook post. The following was received recently from Leighton Hart and we hope he doesn't mind us sharing it with you.

A reminder that we would appreciate you registering your intention to attend our farewell to Peter Costello, Graham Blanks and Leigh Hucker, which can be done at this link - The Three Legends.
Hello. I recently read about the retirement of Graham Blanks and Peter Costello. They both have had fantastic careers, which have help shaped the lives of many. Mr Blanks as I knew him for so long was my teacher on my first day at FDMC in 1988, this was also his first year at the College. When I look back on my time at FDMC I have many fond memories and these were created due to the hard work and dedication of the teachers.

Mr Blanks has obviously helped to enhance and build the special character that exists at FDMC. Although I live in Australia I follow the College closely. My one regret is that my two boys will not have the opportunity to attend FDMC and be taught by teachers like Mr Blanks and Peter Costello. Lochlan my eldest had just started secondary school at Trinity College in Colac.

Could my best wishes be passed on to Mr Blanks and Mr Costello. Thank you to both of them for their hugely positive contribution to my life. They are special people who really can't be thanked enough. Good luck and I hope you enjoy retirement.

Karen my wife and I own a Dairy Farm in South West Victoria. We milk 600 cows which keeps us and our staff busy. We have three children Lochlan 13, Maggie 10 and Lucas 7.

A big hello to all the teachers that are still there that taught me, also to the former students that teach there now that I went to school with. I think you have a teacher I even taught at St Joseph's in Stratford, Scott Crocker.

All the Best Leighton Hart

Keeping The Faith

We recently caught up with FDMC Old Boy Owen Kowaliski. Owen is a long serving teacher at John Paul College in Rotorua and a great example of an old boy who grows his Lasallian character long after leaving the College. Owen has been active in the Lasallian Mission work and a key compnent of John Paul College's faith community.

A Source Of Pride

Picture
We at the College are very proud of our four men in black, not just for their achievements but because of the strong characters they have proved to be. As Mrs Milne would have said, four "Good College Men".

A Farewell To Greatness

Three great stalwarts of the FDMC staff are calling it a day at the end of this year, Peter Costello, Graham Blanks and Leigh Hucker. Our official recognition of their great service to the College will take place at 6 pm on Wednesday 30th November at the West End Bowling Club. We are using an outside venue to allow a wider section of the FDMC community, including old boys, to attend. There will be finger food provided and a cash bar will be in operation. Numbers are limited so we ask that you register your intention to attend for planning purposes by visiting the following link.
