12/18/2014 0 Comments Another CD RepCongratulations to Jordie Barrett on being selected for the Central Districts Under 19 team to take part in the annual U19 national tournament. Jordie is sure to represent us with skill and pride.
Maybe our friends at FDMC Greatest Sporting Moments could run a competition to list all of the FDMC old boys who have played for the CD U19 side - there have been a few. 12/12/2014 0 Comments Farewell To The RustlerThe end of every school year sees one or two staff members move on to other things. This year's most notable defection is long serving staff member Russell "The Rustler" Cleaver. Russell has been at the College since 1996 and has specialised in the maths area as well as being involved with lots of outdoor camps and activities. We will miss Russell's ready smile and wish him lots of quality time on his road bike!
Also departing this year are part time music teacher Krissy Jackson and old boy Ash Reader Nokes. Ash has secured a full time PE job at Hawera High School and we know he will take the college attitude with him into South Taranaki. 12/11/2014 0 Comments Hot, Humid, Happy and HomeTuesday was the last day of the school year and as always the final event was the Junior Prizegiving. The Gym was packed with prize getters and proud parents/grandparents who all went away happy. The staff also left happy, but not perhaps for the same reasons.
We will be continuing to post over the summer holidays so be sure to keep an eye on our site. 12/8/2014 0 Comments On The Front FootThe school year ends tomorrow with the annual Junior Prizegiving but that does not mean that our students don't continue to represent over the summer. You can keep track of our 1st XI cricket team's summer exploits at the link below. It will even give you ball by ball coverage if you have mowed the lawns and run out of other jobs to do.

We note that a number of FDMC old boys were recognised for their achievements. Well done to the following old boys... Philip Radford - Winner of the Senior Electrical (Industrial) Award 12/2/2014 0 Comments The Lost ArtistThis painting of Father Francis Douglas has hung in a range of different places at the College over the years. It is currently in the Chapel along with a range of relicts of our College name sake. It is about to undergo some minor restoration and we are not sure about who the artist was. Is there someone out there who can give us some more background history so that it can be recorded and archived?
12/1/2014 0 Comments We Are College!Great weekend in Auckland for our team at the Condor Sevens. We believe their loss in the Plate Final (29 - 10 to St Pat's Silverstream) and subsequent 6th place overall was the best result we have had at this tournament.
In defeating teams such as Kelston BHS (last year's champions), De La Salle and Otago BHS our guys showed that heart and brains is at least a match for shear size. The Kelston BHS Coach was heard to remark on losing to FDMC " who the ***k are Francis Douglas?" - we are guessing he now has a better idea. |
