11/28/2014 0 Comments In MemoriumWe received a letter this week from Roslyn Orr with the sad news that her husband and College old boy had passes away early this year. Some of the reflections that Roslyn had included .. John lived in Victoria for the last 44 years, mainly in the town of Warrnambol and dies after a short battle with Mesothelioma. We are always sad to here of the loss of a member of our College community and we assure Roslyn of our support and prayers for both herself and John.

11/27/2014 0 Comments Another Long ServerOur latest portrait of a long serving staff member is of John Neeson. John has been at the College for over two decades and yet he can still raise a smile. While John's specialty has been the teaching of maths there will be many old boys who have learnt less formal lessons with him on various surf breaks and ski fields around New Zealand and many will recognise his signature method for remembering where he put his glasses.
11/26/2014 0 Comments We Are Everywhere! It never ceases to amaze us how our old boys find themselves in such diverse and interesting situations. A good example in today's Daily News with a story on old boy (and past staff member) Rowan Johnson who got to lead the choir in support of the Rolling Stones at their concert in Auckland. Just another "can do and then does" FDMC student.
11/25/2014 1 Comment Losing A Bit Of Our PastNews this week of the passing of Jim Vale in New Plymouth at the great old age of 93. Jim was a great supporter of the College and one of those who worked hard to make it a reality in the 1950s.
One memory of Jim's involvement is the Jim Vale Bat which he presented the College. The bat was given to Jim as a young cricketer by Francis Douglas who was his cricket coach at the time. A reminder of how our past is really not that long ago. Jim and his family can be assured of our continuing thoughts and prayers. 11/24/2014 2 Comments Helping OthersOne of the great traditions of the college is the older students being prepared to spend time helping the younger ones. This photo is a great study of that process in operation. What we would like to figure out are who the two students are. Any ideas please leave a comment.
11/21/2014 0 Comments Pigs AnonymousAs the archives are progressively being scanned a lot of photos are uncovered that have no information with them. We realize that the piglets have long since become bacon but can anyone identify some of the spectators and perhaps the year this was taken?
11/19/2014 0 Comments Scanning The PastThe process has begun! Pictured above are the experts beginning the process of scanning and digitising all of the FDMC archives. It will take a while but the hope is that by early next year it will all be digital and searchable. We will then be looking for ways to allow old boys to access the files so that they can prove to their children (or grandchildren) that they once had hair, or that they really did win a prize for RE.
11/18/2014 0 Comments Another Team PhotoC'mon people. We know you have some old photos out there. Dig 'em out and send them in to us.
11/17/2014 0 Comments Thoughts And PrayersPlease keep old boy Simon Foley in your thoughts and prayers. Simon was the victim of a multiple stabbing attack in Opunake over the weekend. He is currently in Taranaki Base Hospital and it would appear he was lucky to survive the incident.
Further info at the Daily News. 11/13/2014 0 Comments Another Archive SpecialAnother photo from the great college past. We are about to begin a big archive project to digitise our stored photos and images so you can expect to see a lot more "old faces" in the future.
