9/26/2013 0 Comments Another Glorious Sporting DayYesterday saw a number of glorious sporting moments in the rich pageant that is FDMC sporting tradition and none of them involve yachts.
The 1st XIII Rugby League team defended the Willie Talau Trophy by beating Waitara High School 36 to 6 at FDMC. Their top class performance confirms them as the best sec. school league team in the province. Earlier in the day we also managed to retain the trophy for best indoor rowing team at the TSS Indoor Rowing tournament. There was a notable performance from Corban Porteous who played a key part in the victories at both events. The evening saw our annual Sportsman's Dinner where a wide range of students and sporting achievements were recognized. The big three winners were as follows. Sportsman Of The Year - Dylan Finnigan Sports Team Of The Year - 1st XV Rugby Sports Contribution Of The Year - Michael Blanks No photos as yet but we will post a few over the next week.

9/25/2013 0 Comments Coloured UpYesterday saw the last Colours Assembly for the year. Over 40 senior students gained college colours for sport, culture or service. We believe this is the largest group to have been recognised in such a way at the College.
In keeping with tradition the keynote speech was given by an old boy. This year's speaker was Shaun Murphy who gave the boys the benefit of his thoughts and experiences and then got to shake a good many hands. It was also great to see so many parents there in support of their sons. 9/23/2013 0 Comments Congratulations FolksThere were a couple of sporting milestones for FDMC old boys over the weekend.
Congratulations to Adam Fraser who was named the New Zealand Lifeguard of the Year on Saturday in recognition of his tireless work both competing and supporting in a range of different surf lifesaving roles - more details here. Saturday night also aw old boy Carl Carmichael play his 50th game for Taranaki, made even more notable by the fact that they had a win. Carl even got to be captain after old boy Kane Barrett was given a rest in the second half - more details here. Great to see that both guys are examples of people who not only compete but serve their sport as well. 9/20/2013 0 Comments On The ChargeLiam Parker is pictured above taking on the pride of Waitara in this week's college league clash. The 1st XIII had a hard fought 38 to 22 win which means they now play Waitara again for the Taranaki secondary schools title. The game will take place at FDMC next Wednesday at 4 o'clock - get along if you can.
9/18/2013 2 Comments More Black And WhiteHere is another fine body of young men, but what year was this taken and what group do they represent?
9/17/2013 1 Comment The Black And White DaysOne of our goals for the rest of this year is to digitise and publish on this site a lot more of the photos we hold in our archives. In the case of many of those from the 1960's there is no indication of who or what it was all about. The photo above is a good case in point. Can any one tell us who these proud young men were?
9/16/2013 0 Comments A Note From Brother DecWe received the following note from Br Declan late last week. Good to see that Br Dec continues to keep alive the traditions of the Brothers and their rich story. You have had some Brothers featuring recently..... And some young faces amongst them. 9/13/2013 0 Comments Well Done Dylan![]() Thanks to Mark Wales our new Director of Sport for the information below concerning current student Dylan Finnigan. If you are buoyed by kiwi yachting success why not go on line and watch Dylan give Dylan Finnigan (Year 13) is competing at the World Triathlon Championships in London this week: 9/12/2013 0 Comments True ColoursYou can take the Brother out of Australia but it is very hard to take the Australian out of the Brother. Br Peter Smyth has been gone from the FDMC community for a few years now but he keeps a close eye on what is happening here, and what our old boys are up to. We get to see him at least once a year at the College although the moustache no longer makes the trip.
9/11/2013 0 Comments A Classic PoseWe are doing a week of brotherly photos so it would be remiss of us not to include Br Will with his dog, his horse and the college farm.
