5/31/2013 0 Comments Bits And PiecesIt has been a busy week and today is no different as we celebrate Founders Day by busing the school to St Josephs for a mass to be followed by inter house haka competitions, and of course, the traditional Founders Day pie. Photos of the events to be posted next week.
On the sports front, some of the discord over the NPBHS/FDMC game seems to have been sorted out at the highest levels and our 1st XV is getting ready to head south next week to take on the pride of St Pats Town on Wednesday. We have been given a link to the FDMC page on the SkySports 1st XV page - if interested you can click here. We have noticed a few inaccuracies and typos but please don't tell us, tell them. Still on the rugby front, congratulations to old boy Paul Williams who has been named in the National Rugby Referees Development Squad. We will all be watching closely!

Over recent years this event has expanded to include a range of sports and age groups. The timetable of event below outlines who will be giving their all tomorrow.

While we keep teaching you guys get out the 5/24/2013 0 Comments A Legal ArgumentGreat news yesterday that our Law Mooting Team has won their way through to the North Island Final. The grand dispute will take place in Hamilton next week against the very strong Tauranga Girls High School team.
Holding up our side of the argument will be Joseph Robinson, Kurt Biesiek and Alex Furr, all good men in a (verbal) fight. We wish them well on behalf of all stroppy males. 5/22/2013 0 Comments Happy 100 Br OllieLast weekend saw many gather in Australia to celebrate Br Oliver's 100th birthday and recognise his over 80 years of contributions as a De La Salle brother. Br David Hawke and Br Pat Lynch were only two of those who were able to be with him on his big day. In typical Br Ollie manner he didn't really want any fuss.
5/20/2013 0 Comments A Brown StudyWith a little study of this photo you might discover a number of old boys in this sea of brown. Today's Daily News has a back ground on the group and their common aims.
5/16/2013 0 Comments Fun On The MountainYear 9 camps have become a regular feature of the college programme with classes staying over night at Konini Lodge and tramping the surrounding mountain tracks. There will be many past students who will have risen to the challenge of a "cool" dip in Wilkies pool. Students at FDMC aren't that big but there is no doubting their toughness, as evidenced by the guys above taking a mid May swim.
5/15/2013 2 Comments A Bit Of HistoryToday saw the 1st XV defeat Palmerston North Boys High School 1st XV by 20 points to 3. It is the first time we have had a win against the boys from the Manawatu and bodes well for the big clash in a fortnight against NPBHS.
We noted a lot of old boys at the game today and we are sure they were very appreciative of the skill and spirit of our 1st XV. The boys never let the opposition in to the game and were especially impressive on defence. All good signs for the rest of the season. 5/15/2013 0 Comments Brother VisitorBr Peter Smyth (pictured above) was here for a visit last week. He had been in the country for a couple of weeks catching up with friends and quite a few old boys around the place. Brother is now back in Aussie where this week will see the celebration of Brother Oliver's 100th Birthday. We will of course have pictures at a later date.
