10/30/2014 0 Comments Another Long ServerNext up on our portraits of long serving staff is Mr Peter Smith. Peter arrived at FDMC in 1984 and like most staff who have been around awhile at the College he has taught in many different areas. The last decade has seen Peter as our Mr Computing, a thankless task when the network is not working properly!

10/24/2014 0 Comments Celebrating The Hostel LifeTonight sees the second annual dinner to farewell the Y13 hostel group. It is a time to look back over 5 years of hostel life and recall the events and characters that make up a boarding experience. Pictured above is one of those "characters" in a hat that we may not see tonight!
10/23/2014 0 Comments Cracking OnGood weather and hard work has seen the new Science Lab block make very good progress. This shot is taken from the main block stairwell over looking the new buildings. Recent old boys will note that the Y7/8 shade area has moved sideways to accommodate the new structure.
10/21/2014 0 Comments Satch Is On His WayCongratulations to recent old boy Satch Pryor on getting a rugby league contract with Queensland Manly to play in next seasons Queensland Cup. Just another step up the ladder for a talented athlete. No pressure but we are looking forward to seeing who becomes our first FDMC Kiwi player.
10/20/2014 0 Comments Paying A VisitA very welcome visit to the College today from past Principal Br Tim Peter. Br Tim is in town for a few days and catching up with all those friends he made during his two tours of duty at FDMC during the 80's and 90's. He is currently in community in Brisbane and working in adult education for the under underprivileged.
As you can see from the image above Br Tim is very well and in good spirits and retains his great affection for the College, a place he had a key hand in shaping in it's current form and spirit. 10/17/2014 1 Comment From The Walsh CollectionThe College Archives have been the recipient of a number of magazines, photos and documents from the late Leo Walsh (thanks Mark). Amongst the photos is the one above which has no title, caption or individual names. If you can enlighten us a little please leave a comment with some details.
10/16/2014 0 Comments Teaching The TeachersThe following is part of Br Bill's latest letter from South Sudan. It always puts our every day issues in to a more real perspective. It is a good problem to have. We need more dormitories and more staff accommodation in Yambio where there are now four, full-time classes of pre-service teacher training in action. There are two semesters per year and the programme extends over two years – thus, for four semesters. At the beginning of each semester there is a new intake. Initially, we projected four streams to be our maximum enrolment but with the indefinite closure of our Malakal campus – a consequence of the senseless civil strife in South Sudan - we are planning on expanding our Yambio campus to six streams. There are many young men and women keen for higher education. 10/14/2014 0 Comments The Writing Is On The WallAs we near the last few weeks of the school year for the seniors the house points display, donated by the Y13 students of 2012 is telling a familiar story. The Red Terror has been hard pushed by the Yellow Menace but it looks like they may just get there for another year.
10/13/2014 0 Comments Making ProgressWhile staff and students have been away on holiday the builders have been beavering away at our new classrooms. The concrete bases have been laid on both the science and art rooms sites (art room seen above), so it won't be long before some actual structures will be taking shape. The work is a constant source of interest to both students and staff, with one or two science teachers showing definite signs of excitement.
