6/27/2015 1 Comment A Sociable LotYou can't say your average FDMC boy doesn't like a good party - no matter what the era. We think we may have posted this image a while ago but have no record of who the young and cool might be. Please leave a comment if you have any ideas.
6/26/2015 0 Comments A Moot PointMrs Wackrow has done a lot of organising of our Law Mooting teams over recent years, the following is a message from Robyn. Law mooting is a competition run throughout the country by the Law Faculty of Waikato University. Teams of 3 act as lawyers in a real case that has been through the NZ High Court, in a real courtroom, with real judges presiding. It is a tough ask as correct courtroom procedure is expected along with knowledge of the case and others that relate to the issue. This year 69 teams competed. 6/25/2015 0 Comments Our Latest World ChampionWell done to Ricky Riccitelli and all of the "Baby Blacks" on their under 20 World Championship win. We now look forward to seeing how Ricky's rugby career develops, even though he will be playing ITM Cup for Hawkes Bay. We suspect Ricky will do well in the future, a product of his athletic ability, great work habit and the fact that announcers love to say his name!
6/18/2015 0 Comments Treading The BoardsWe received news last week that Year 12 student Polaiu'amea Kirifi has been selected for the National Shakespeare Schools Production. Pola's achievement matches that of recent old boy Tanaka Utete and we hope he will follow on to be selected for the National Troupe which tours to the UK. Another FDMC boy on the stage at the Globe would be a wonderful thing.
6/16/2015 0 Comments The Mongol Derby RiderWe asked yesterday for examples of old boys out and about in the big wide world and today's Daily News has obliged with a cover photo and story on Maxim Van Lierde's Mongolian adventure. You can read the full article here.
You don't have to wait for the newspapers to pick up on your story - just email us a pic and a few words. 6/15/2015 1 Comment Good Times, Good FriendsAs winter takes hold we are looking for some variety in our posts. There is only so much shivering sportsman most people can take! The photo above is of a group of old boys sharing a glass and enjoying the occasion. They are from left to right Tom Mace, Richard Crowe, Grant Wackrow and Matthew Kuriger.
If you have an interesting old boy photo to contribute please email to us here. 6/12/2015 0 Comments A Change of PlanUnfortunately due to a number of logistical difficulties the launch of Mark Chamberlain's new book 'With a Father Like Mine' will not now take place at the college.
That doesn't mean you can't access or purchase the book as it is available through Amazon.com. Click here for the book link. 6/9/2015 0 Comments In A Book Store Near YouIn what we think is a first, old boy Mark Chamberlain will be launching his new book 'With a Father Like Mine' at the college on the 24 June. The book recounts a very personal journey which includes his time at FDMC. Put the date in your diary and get along for this rare occasion.
6/8/2015 0 Comments Way Too YoungSad news on Friday of the passing of old boy Jeremy McCracken in a car accident at Inglewood. Jeremy was 22 years old. Our thoughts and prayers are with his family and friends at this time. For those who can make it there is a Vigil at St Joseph's NP tonight at 5.30 and a Requiem Mass at the same venue tomorrow at 1.30.
Eternal rest grant unto him, O Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon him. May he rest in peace. |
