6/20/2012 0 Comments FDMC RocksThanks to Jane Connolly for the following photo and report. The annual 'Smokefree Rockquest' Taranaki Finals were held last Saturday night. FDMC had two entries, and Andrew Hockey entered in another band with friends from NPBHS. There were 12 bands contesting the win on the night from Opunake High School, Hawera High, Waitara High, Sacred Heart Girls' College, New Plymouth Boys' High, New Plymouth Girls' High and Spotswood College.
With the NPGHS Ball and some other events falling on the same evening there was a smaller crowd in the 'mosh pit' than normal, but those attending were treated to a range of performances ranging from ballad to driving rock and appeared to enjoy the free giveaways and also the guest band. Francis Douglas is proud of first placed entry, 'Noriac'- Caleb Brbich, Fraser Walker, Ryuki Han and Luke Burn. Luke Burn went on to win the MAINZ Musicianship Award as most outstanding musician, and Andrew Hockey won the APPRA Lyrics Award. A range of great results for our dedicated college musicians. Well done and really deserved.
